Tips on Mindfulness with Founder & CEO of EQ Minds, Chelsea Pottenger


We've caught up with the Founder and CEO of EQ Minds, Chelsea Pottenger, an International Motivational Speaker and works with Fortune 500 companies. EQ's mission is to empower and educate people to take care of their mental health.

EQ Minds tips on embracing change and practising mindfulness

In this challenging time of COVID, it is more important than ever to slow down and ensure you and the people around you are safe and well. Chelsea shares her tips on staying well.

Tip 1.Put your gratitude glasses on

Put your gratitude glasses on. List 3 things you are grateful for today. By being grateful for 30 seconds per day, it can change your gene expression to positive. Interrupt worry with gratitude. Interrupt fear with gratitude. A grateful heart is a magnet for happiness.


Tip 2.Meditate

Meditate. Life is all about balance. A tilt between busy and calm. Meditation is one of the smartest things you can do, but only if you want to decrease stress, anxiety and improve your memory. Sometimes it’s perfectly Ok and absolutely necessary to shut down, kick back and meditate.

Tip 3.Set your morning up for success

Set your morning up for success. Instead of checking your phone when you first wake up, which is detrimental to our brain in the first 8 minutes - do something more positive for the brain. For example, you could do some journaling.

#1 What is the number 1 thing I need to focus on today for business (and you land that plane first!)

What I mean by this is, is I am very proactive with my company EQ Minds before 10am and I’m not reactive to the external world. I don’t check emails, I don't respond to texts, Instead, I stay razor-focused on strategically what is the most important thing I need to do for my company and we land that plane first before we move onto anything else.

#2 What is the number 1 thing I need to focus on today to take care of my mental health and wellbeing.

If your wellbeing doesn’t get scheduled in your calendar it just doesn’t get done.  If you cant intrinsically motivate yourself to take care of you because you feel too busy, then I ask you to think about someone you love the most in the world and you do it for them. What I mean by this, is my daughter who is 5yo is the love of my life. She doesn’t deserve a burnout, stressed, anxious Mummy at the end of the day.

This is why every day I move my body, I meditate, I eat well, I honour my sleep and I make time for play and fun. I also have a massage weekly :)
