Our Sustainability and Impact
Celebrating 10 years in circular fashion

Our Mission

We are on a mission to accelerate the transition to a more circular fashion system

Circularity is at the heart of what we do at GlamCorner.
A circular fashion system aims to continue using items that already exist and design out waste, unlike the take-make-use-waste model of the linear economy.

Founded in 2012, GlamCorner is a premium online fashion rental service which circulates high-quality garments and reduces fashion waste.

In 2022, the team behind GlamCorner founded RELOOP, a concierge recommerce service which enables every retailer, brand and individual to resell, rent, repair and recycle their garments and reduce their fashion footprint.

Certified B Corporation

We are dedicated to going the extra mile and actively seeking more sustainable practices and solutions. That’s why we are proud to have become a B Corp in 2018 meaning we’ve been independently verified to the highest standard of social and environmental impact.

To become a Certified B Corporation we had to undertake what is known as the B Impact Assessment. This assessment measured the overall impact of our social and environmental performance across a range of credible, comprehensive, transparent, and independent standards. We believe that business should be a force for good, and through our work and our practices we are helping to reduce waste in the fashion industry.

Our Operations

Washing practices
and machines

At GlamCorner, we pride ourselves on the care we take in cleaning our garments. The GlamCorner garment care and laundry process involves two cleaning systems: Miele WetCare Cleaning System and GreenEarth Dry Cleaning System.

Miele WetCare Cleaning System

  • WetCare uses biodegradable water-soluble based detergentswhich do not contain phosphates, zeolites, nitrilotriacetate acid (NTA) or perborates.
  • Detergents disinfect at a lower temperature (40°C), which means that the WetCare system is more energy efficient.
  • WetCare is calibrated to use 6-7 litres of water per kilogram of clothing cleaned, which is highly water efficient compared to a household machine which can use between 12 to 50 litres of water per kilogram of clothing.
  • We also use Cora Balls in every load washed which reduces the impact of microfibres by up to 31%.

GreenEarth Dry Cleaning System

  • Most dry cleaners use toxic, carcinogenic and flammable petrochemical solvents, such as Perchloroethylene (PERC), whichpollute water, soil and air.
  • GreenEarth Dry Cleaning machines use silicone (liquified sand). Silicone is a non-toxic, non-hazardous and extremely gentle alternative that is safe for humans, water, soil and air.
  • GreenEarth Dry Cleaning machines do not leave residue or odour on clothes, whereas chemicals remain on clothes after the traditional dry cleaning process.
  • Through a closed-loop filtration system, GreenEarth technology captures and reuses water and solvent.

Repair and maintainance

We enforce very strict quality control processes when preparing and shipping styles to our customers. If any items fail these tests, they are sent back through our cleaning and repairs system.

We are experts in caring for and refurbishing garments. We even have our own button machine so we don’t need to source new buttons, which would add additional impact to the environment through production and shipping.

Packaging

We work to minimise waste through recyclable, compostable and biodegradable solutions.

- Eliminated virgin plastic from packaging in 2018
- Introduced compostable satchels in February 2022

Logistics

Logistics are an important part of our model. Through Shippit, we work with Couriers Please, Toll and Australia Post to send your garments out and collect them back. Shippit also offset a portion of our deliveries through Carbon Neutral. We also do our best to minimise our carbon footprint through one drop off/pick up for each courier service.

What happen's next?

When items are no longer in ‘as new’ condition, we either sell them through our sister company RELOOP or our eBay outlet, or donate them to one of our charity partners, Red Cross and Dress for Success. When items are not fit for re-use, we have partnered with UPPAREL and BlockTexx so they can be used to create new yarn or shedded and used for things like insulation.

Clothing Donations

Customers are able to donate their pre-loved clothes to the Red Cross or Dress for Success via GlamCorner's prepaid return satchel (included in every GlamCorner order). Donations assist in raising funds for people in need and our community has donated over 110 kg of items since 2019.

  • As part of Empower Hour 2021 and in honour of International Women’s Day 2021, GlamCorner raised $5,000 for Dress for Success to help women transitionfrom welfare to the workforce
  • In 2021, GlamCorner donated 100% of proceeds from the GlamCorner face mask range to the Dress For Success Sydney COVID-19 emergency relief appeal.
  • During 2019-20, Australia experienced one of the most catastrophic and devastating bushfire seasons. In an effort to help recover and restore the Australian community, GlamCorner contributed $10,000 to the Red Cross Bush Fire Relief, and pledged to match employee donations dollar-for-dollar to further support relief efforts.
There has never been a better time for consumers, brands and retailers to commit to circular fashion models than now.
